Loco watched with wide eyes as Jay paced around the kitchen, cooing quietly to himself. He had never seen his friend act this way, and frankly the sight was making him uneasy.

“Uh, Jay?” he hummed, his tone light. The last thing he wanted to do was disrupt whatever thoughts Jay was grumbling about and incur his full wrath. It had happened before and he was hesitant to have it happen again.

Loco held his breath as he continued to watch Jay strut, finally exhaling when Jay stopped and acknowledged him. “What?”

“Is there…uh…is there something I can do?” Loco asked, lifting his brows. He wasn’t sure where to begin. He wasn’t even really sure what Jay was trying to accomplish. “To help?”

“Nothing you can do, little brother,” Jay chirped, his hands on his hips as he spun around the kitchen, trying to focus his thoughts. “Tonight is the night!”

“Tonight is what night exactly?” Loco questioned, tilting his head in confusion. “Do you mean…tonight you’re gunna try to make a move? THE move? On Y/N?”

“You’re damn right I am,” Jay nodded proudly. “I’m finally ready.”

“Ready for what exactly?” Loco hummed, continuing his line of questions. He had never known Jay to be a person who found difficulty in hooking up with someone, so he was unsure of what his friend meant.

“The big c-word,” Jay nodded again, his grin wide. He stepped forward, adjusting a bouquet of roses he had situated on the counter.

Loco lifted his brows, his imagination running wild. “Coitus? Copulation?”

Jay glanced at him, his face completely serious. “Cuddling.”

“Cuddling?” Loco choked. If he had been sipping the beer in his hand, his friend’s declaration would have caused him to spit out the liquid in surprise.

“Did I stutter, fool?” Jay muttered. “I said cuddling.”

“Right, cuddling, the big c-word,” Loco giggled. “Jay Park, setting up a date to cuddle.”

“Don’t be an asshole,” Jay grumbled, crossing his arms. “This is a big deal, so quit with your cackling.”

“Right,” Loco wheezed through his laughter. “Totally.”

“You can leave,” Jay pouted, pointing to the door. He didn’t need bruised feelings on top of the anxiety he was already harboring. “And take your shitty beer with you.”

“Don’t be mad at me,” Loco continued to chuckle. “Or my beer. Because you have problems with your feelings.”

“Damn, you must be forgetful as hell,” Jay spat. “I believe you were just leaving.”

“I’m only leaving because Y/N is coming soon,” Loco sighed, finally calming down. “And because you’re so nervous about your big night.”

“BYE,” Jay hissed, shuffling over to open the door for the younger man. “See you. Have a good night! And by good, I mean fucking terrible. Asshole.”

“I know you say this all out of love,” Loco grinned, still sipping on his beer as he crossed through the threshold and out onto the welcome mat. “You know you-”

“Bye,” Jay repeated, slamming the door in Loco’s face. He walked back toward the living area, annoyed that he had allowed his friend to get under his skin so easily.

“Cuddling IS a big deal!” he whispered. He ran a hand through his disheveled hair and sighed. Plopping onto the couch, he moodily attempted to console himself. “Not everyday you see a man compromising his good name to get some cuddling in. So maybe I’m a little emotionally unavailable…I never claimed to be perfect, everyone just already assumed I was…I mean look at me. I’m Jay Park. I-”

His small diatribe was momentarily interrupted as a light knock hit the wood of his front door. He began to grumble again as he stood, crossing the room in a few strides to yank at the handle. “Look Loco, I told you-”

“Loco?” you cooed happily, stepping into the apartment. “I just saw him! He didn’t leave on my account, did he?”

Jay took a deep breath in, surprised that it was your face he was seeing enter the room. “Oh, nah. He had to go somewhere.”

“He said to the studio,” you chuckled, bopping Jay on the nose. The small gesture made him feel as if he were melting inside, but he’d never let you know that.

Against his better judgement, he was incredibly soft where you were concerned.

“Yeah? Did he have anything else to say?” Jay questioned nervously. If Loco mentioned anything about their conversation, he would personally drive over to his apartment and kick his ass.

“Nope, just told me to have a good night,” you sighed. “Which is a given considering I get to spend it with my favorite dork.”

“Dork!” he scoffed, mentally wiping away his Loco-related worries. “We’ll see if this dork can live up to the hype.”

“You always do,” you cooed, kissing him lightly on the cheek. “But I don’t think I’ll be able to tonight.”

Jay lifted his brows, unsure of what you meant. “Watchu mean?”

“If you don’t mind, can we just go to bed?” you sighed, popping off your shoes and leaving them by the door. “I know you were excited to have me over, but it was a hard day at work and I-”

“Baby girl,” Jay chuckled, wrapping his arms around your waist. “Say no more. I totally get it. To bed we go.”

“It was that easy?” you laughed, reaching up to cup his face with your palm.

“Contrary to popular belief, I’m pretty easy,” Jay smiled. After a moment of silence, you couldn’t hold your laughter any longer as he failed to recognize his misstep in words.

“You know…I don’t think you realize what the popular belief was, babe,” you giggled, patting his cheek lightly. “Because you being “pretty easy” sounds on par with what I heard before we met.”

“Aigoo,” he groaned, shaking his head. He buried his face into your neck and laughed. “I meant like…I’m easy to convince. I have given up my days as a hoe, I promise.”

“If you say so,” you teased.

“Hey! I really like you!” Jay pouted. He stepped back to place a light kiss on your forehead.

“Hey!” you grinned. “I know.”

“No,” he grumbled. “That’s when you’re supposed to say, ‘Jay, you so handsome. I really like you too. I’m such a lucky girl, I-’”

“When did you become so high maintenance?” you interrupted, pushing at his chest.

“I’ve always been high maintenance, baby,” he grinned. “Can’t expect to own a Ferrari without the upkeep.”

“Don’t worry about kissing me later,” you mumbled, pulling yourself from his grasp. “Because I think I just threw up in my mouth.”

“Mmm, i love when you talk dirty to me,” he winked, sliding his fingers to intertwine with yours. He gave a quick tug, signaling your movement toward the bedroom.

“Jay, I think I have enough blankets,” you whispered as he covered you up in yet another layer.

“I just want to make sure my baby isn’t cold.” he hummed, finally finishing his work and sliding into bed himself. “But I think I can take care of that.”

You felt Jay’s hands crawl across your hips, where he began to rub small circles into your bare skin with his thumb. You immediately began to tense up despite the exhaustion attempting to flood your senses.

“Jay, when I said I wanted to go to bed, I didn’t mean-” you hummed, ready to fight off his advances.

“No, I uh…I uh…just wanna cuddle,” he whispered, pulling you in closer.

“I’m sorry, you want to what?” you croaked, certain you had misheard. For the entirety of you and Jay’s relationship, he had never openly sought to cuddle anything, you included.

“You know, like when all the homies go home and you just want to get some hardcore snuggle in,” Jay said quietly, his voice only centimeters from your ear. His breaths were hot on your neck, causing you to think about anything but cuddling.

“I know what cuddles are, Jay,” you groaned, spinning around in his arms. “I just don’t understand why you’re actively seeking them?”

“Damn, a man can’t cuddle his lady without her getting suspicious?” he pouted, furrowing his brows.

“Don’t look at me like that,” you laughed, reaching up to flatten out the wrinkles he had caused above his nose. “You have to admit, this is a surprise for me.”

“I’m allowed to be soft sometimes,” he muttered. “On occasion, your boy just wants to be held.”

“He does, does he?” you grinned. “Well, turn around.”

“What?” he asked, his eyes wide. “Why?”

“Something tells me you like to be cuddled more than doing the actual cuddling, Mr. Park,” you sighed. You pushed at his shoulder, signaling for him to flip over on the mattress. “Hopefully being the little spoon doesn’t ruin your street cred.”

“Fuck that,” Jay muttered, shimmying to get better situated in your arms. “Don’t let anyone fool you. Men high key love to be the little spoon.”

“Yourself included?” you giggled.

“Myself included,” he confirmed. “Now go to bed. I need my beauty sleep.”

“I don’t think I could handle you any more beautiful than you already are,” you smiled. You held Jay close in the darkness and sighed contently. You pressed your face against his warm back, appreciating the small moment he had created.

“You don’t want to see this mug without any rest,” Jay laughed. “So it would probably be in your best interest to let me sleep.”

“I refuse to believe you’re anything less than handsome at all times,” you argued. “You’re a Ferrari, remember?”

“And unless you want to wake up to a Toyota, I advise you hush,” he croaked. “Goodnight, baby girl.”

“Toyota’s are reliable,” you said quietly, listening to Jay’s heart beat. The quiet rhythm was enough to calm you and begin to lull you to sleep.

“I said goodnight.”
